For EV drivers who need their vehicle charged and ready on a schedule — not whenever it finishes charging overnight — the Battery Tender® eCharge 40 Amp Level 2 delivers the speed. At 40 Amps on a 240V circuit, it provides approximately 9.6 kW of charging power, adding roughly 25–30 miles of driving range per hour. Most long-range EV batteries recover fully in 6–9 hours. Park, plug in, wake up to a full charge — every morning. Energy Star certified for maximum charging efficiency throughout the process.

Level 2 Charging: The Practical Home Standard

Level 2 charging at 240V is the standard for daily home EV charging because it recovers meaningful range in a standard overnight window for virtually any EV on the market. Where Level 1 on 120V takes 40+ hours to fully charge a depleted long-range EV battery, Level 2 at 40 Amps accomplishes it in 6–9 hours. For EV owners who drive significant daily mileage, own long-range EVs, or simply need charging certainty on a predictable schedule, Level 2 is the correct solution.

40 Amps — Faster Than 32, Compatible With Higher-Capacity EVs

Higher output means faster charging for vehicles whose onboard charger can accept it. At 40 Amps, the eCharge 40 Amp Level 2 adds range faster than 32 Amp units and is matched to EVs with onboard chargers in the 7.2 kW to 9.6 kW range — which covers a large portion of current EV models. Where a vehicle's onboard charger cannot accept the full 40 Amp output, the eCharge unit delivers at the vehicle's accepted rate without issue.
